Vera-Ellen, superb dancing star, is often overlooked, but she was an important Hollywood star in the late 1940s and '50s. She partnered Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Danny Kaye and Donald O’Conner. She starred in On the Town, Three Little Words, The Belle of New York, Three Little Girls in Blue and the beloved Holiday classic, White Christmas. Her talent was more than remarkable. She excelled at tap, ballet, jazz and acrobatic dancing. Vera-Ellen started her screen career when she was a teen, but movie musicals were on the wane. Nevertheless, her dance numbers were spectacular. She was always beautifully costumed. She was overlooked as a subject for paper doll fame. Until now, that is. Artist David Wolfe has created a new paper doll book in the style of Hollywood’s Golden Age featuring three Vera-Ellen dolls and scores of fabulous costumes from her films.
