America’s screen sweetheart, sunny Doris Day was not only a superstar recording artist but also one of the biggest box office movie stars of all time. From her debut in Romance on the High Seas in 1948 through ‘50s musicals like Lullaby of Broadway and on to the sexy comedies of the ‘60s that began with Pillow Talk, Doris Day was a true fashion role model. Her costumes, her hair-dos and her bubbly personality influenced women everywhere.
This new paper doll book by fashion expert and artist, David Wolfe, was created with the cooperation of Doris Day authority, Pierre Patrick, and is authorized by the legendary star, herself. In fact, a donation for each book is contributed to the star’s animal rights charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation.
There are three delightful Doris Dolls and eight pages of 24 iconic movie costumes from Pillow Talk, The Thrill of It All, Love Me or Leave Me, Lover Come Back, The Pajama Game, The Glass Bottom Boat, Young at Heart, By the Light of the Silvery Moon, On Moonlight Bay, That Touch of Mink, Do Not Disturb, Midnight Lace, Romance on the High Seas, Lucky Me, Caprice, Lullaby of Broadway and Calamity Jane. Also included is a personal message from Miss Doris Day herself!
This special paper doll book was featured on TCM during April 2012 for Doris Day month and shown in the November 2012 issue of TCM's Now Playing Magazine. In 2014, in celebration of Doris' 90th birthday, David created a second paper doll book with more dolls and more movie clothes!
